PlayMakers Repertory Company came to Matrix in 2022 in need of a new website.
They faced multiple challenges - an aging audience, a need to attract younger theater goers, and an online presence that stood apart from their competitors.
In addition to addressing these concerns, the new website needed to showcase their ongoing community efforts, their commitment to diversity, and allow the artists to be featured in their various creative roles.

After establishing the overall goals of the project, I created a series of wireframes exploring the overall structure of the important pages of the new site, including the homepage, the calendar, show detail page, and the “About” section.
The overall design of the site is inspired by the theater experience itself. Imagine sitting in a darkened theater, the lights come on and the stage emerges from the shadows. This is the experience I tried to replicate in the design.
